This week we did a bit of brainstorming and have come up with a few promotions to run this year!
Coming soon is a brand new Mondaine product – the Helvetica. With Easter just around the corner, we have organised a fun Easter egg treasure hunt in Tunbridge Wells High Street. From Saturday 28th March through to Saturday 11th April – you can pick up a treasure map from us. Find the 15 hidden numbered eggs in the High Street windows; mark the numbers on your map and return it to us. There are a few rhymes to help you along! Simples! The hunt runs for the two week half term period so plenty of time for you to come hunting! All returned maps will receive a treat courtesy of Morrison’s and all returned maps will be entered into a grand prize draw on Saturday 11th April where many prizes are being donated by the High Street businesses including a £25.00 voucher from Javabean and plenty of choccy treats from other participants. Treasure Maps are free in exchange for a charitable donation. We are sponsoring the Folly Wildlife Rescue Centre and all proceeds from this year’s Treasure Hunt will go to this great charity which is situated in the Broadwater Forest near Tunbridge Wells. Folly is a charity dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of injured, orphaned, sick and distressed wild animals and birds throughout West Kent, East Sussex and the surrounding region. Each year some 3,500 wild animals and birds are admitted to the centre where they receive expert care and veterinary treatment. Run purely on public donations this worthy charity thanks you for all your support.
Our Zelli Porcelain side of the business has also been planning some spectacular activities. They have joined forces with local porcelain artist Stephen Bartley. Mr Bartley is probably most well known for his collection of character porcelain pigs, frogs and hippos. We are inviting you to design a new model for his pig collection. Measuring just four inches tall, these little pigs are full of character and can be custom made to most specifications. To enter we need four colour sketches (front, back and both side views) of your design. There is a £10 fee per entry and ALL proceeds go to Folly. The competition is open to all ages. There are no restrictions except your imagination. Designs and entry fees should be returned to Payne & Son/Zelli Porcelain by no later than 30th September 2015. Short listed designs will be forward to Mr Bartley who will have the final judgement. The judge’s decision is final. The winner will have their design made by Mr Bartley and receive a limited edition of number one of six. See zelliporcelain.com for full terms and conditions.
And talking of charities…….we have adopted the Folly Wildlife Rescue Centre as our charity for the year. Situated in the Broadwater Forest near Tunbridge Wells in Kent, Folly Wildlife Rescue Trust is a charity dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of injured, orphaned and distressed wild animals and birds throughout West Kent, East Sussex and the surrounding region. The Trust specialize in the hand-rearing of mammals, including hedgehogs, badgers, foxes, mice, rabbits and even deer, as well as over two thousand nestling and fledgling birds of all species. In addition, it works tirelessly to dispel the myths and misconceptions surrounding many wild animals (for example, magpies are killing all our songbirds, foxes are ruthless killers, all badgers carry TB etc) with a view to reducing much needless and often fatal persecution.
Through its education programme (carried out primarily in schools, community groups and clubs) it looks to highlight these man-made problems (which nationwide are killing and maiming millions of animals and birds every year) as well as demonstrating to people how they can help prevent such accidents from happening in the first place. It also actively promotes a respect for and an appreciation of our wonderful wildlife heritage.
