My Review of The Late Night Christmas Shopping Event (5th December)

Well it seemed like a good idea at the time – OMG when we started to organise and talk about this event, I never knew how quickly it would be upon us! Time has appeared to FLY by quite literally. I remember a little voice saying “Why don’t we dress up?”, whose crazy idea was that? Oh it might have been me! Oops!! So after John had donned his King Henry VIII/Shakespearian lothario outfit, Denise and I headed upstairs to transform ourselves with grease paint and wigs. Thank goodness for those wigs! Nobody really recognised us with those on – honestly! So the wicked witch and the snow queen glided downstairs looking fabulous and feeling really stupid! To finish off the team, Mr P himself dressed up as Santa, filled his sack full of oranges, grabbed the old station bell and went off bellowing Merry Christmas to all and sundry.

We served mulled wine, bucks fizz, mince pies and truffles all night, whilst we pranced around in our costumes. We had many people visit the shop, and the High Street seemed to be buzzing with a great atmosphere! We can all pat ourselves on the back for a job well done! Next year will be bigger and better! It was a great social event which we will endeavor to carry forward with gusto into the New Year. Projects for next year? Who knows? Summer Street Party twinned with Fusion Arts Festival 2014???? Watch this space….

Ron Sophie

I personally want to thank my partner in crime, and new friend, throughout all these festivities – Sophie from Bod & Ted , who bravely organised the huge raffle we held. Over £1700.00 was raised for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance, the 53 prizes were donated by the shops and businesses in the High Street – to whom we are both very deeply grateful. Other stalwarts include my dear friend Ron from Howard Cundey Estate Agents who designed, printed and distributed all the leaflets, they are also proud sponsors of the KSS Air Ambulance); Aaron from Christchuch/MannaCafe for letting us use the area for the prize draw with the Mayor; The Tunbridge Wells Choral Society for their cheery carols on a chilly evening, Javabean for looking after TW Choral Society and for hosting our first meeting back in the summer; David B for the Love TW coverage; the Courier for supporting us; Gavin from Freshpix for the great video of the lights going on in the High Street and for having the pop up stall outside Manna Cafe where you could have your picture taken with Rudolph antlers – just like Mr Mayor did!!

I even want to thank TW Council for making sure that the lights we did have were all working! And Markerstudy for the wonderful Santa Express – please, please, please can we have it ALL year?????

So many of you helped to make it a wonderful evening! And I am very proud to have made so many new friends since this all began. In particular I just want to mention Jackie and Co, Cheryl, Juliet, Lynne, Neil and Co, Harpal & Chris, Elaine and Co, Nick, Richard, Charlotte, Emma, Susanna, Sharron, Nick, Alexandra, Ann, Sandra, Dominic, Loretta, Lena, Thelma, Sean, Martin, Stefan, Sam, Raquel and Co,  Julia, Andrew, Freya & Becs, David, Kathryn, Gabrielle, Lea, ERic, Mark & Anna, Miles, Charlotte and Co, Caro, Debbie, Samantha, Fionha, Mauro, Taylor, James, Daisy, Allison and Co, Emma, Lucy & Halli, Zoe & Josh, Kate, Sigourney, Sally, Michelle, Anthony – AND EVERYONE in the High Street and Chapel Place!!
